The Naturist Talks: Luke from Belgium

As you may have read in the very first post of this blog, one of the main reasons why we started this project is to show the world that naturists are not some strange dark commune but that actually everyone could be one… Or could enjoy being one if they took the first step.

Our main example of “everyone” is of course ourselves, we write posts about naturism in general but also about our own experiences. But some of you might be thinking “Yes sure, those two are probably just the strange kids in the block…” (nah, we know you’re not thinking that about us, but we’re trying to write an introduction here). So we decided to let other naturists have a word as well.

What you find here will be a series of interviews called The Naturist Talks, which will last as long as we find people who want to talk about their experiences with naturism. We will try to bring you a variety of people, men and women, young and a little bit less young from all over the world who told us what naturism means to them, how they got into it and how it works out for them.

So please sit back and get inspired!

Meanwhile we already published a couple of interviews, you can find them in the The Naturist Talks section.
Our guest for today is a 41 year young family guy from Belgium (yes, our home country!). For personal reasons he prefers to remain anonymous, which we totally respect, so for the sake of the interview, let’s call him Luke.

Hello Luke, tell us something about yourself
We are, what you could call a naturist family. I, the husband, am mostly taking the upper hand in this. My wife prefers functional nudity instead, like in the bathroom. But when we are on holiday we often visit naturist campings, our kids really like to swim naked and to run around naked, to spend naked time with us. Lately we start noticing that they even prefer to be naked with other kids their own age instead of with us.

How and at what age did you become a naturist?
It’s hard to put a specific date to this, I’ve loved to be naked for a very long time. But about 15 years ago we really started calling it naturism and we became member of the Belgian Naturist Association where we got a FBN/INF membership card.

Is naturism allowed in your country and what’s the public opinion?
In Belgium it’s not really accepted to be naked in public places. There are also just a handful of naturist campings and as far as I know there is just one nude beach.

We hate to divide people into groups, but we’ll do it anyway…
Do you consider yourself a naturist, a nudist or an occasional nudist?
Myself, I’m certainly a convinced naturist, for the rest of my family I think that I can say that they are mostly occasional naturists.

Do you find it easy to make naturist friends?
With naturist friends, or with people who you have met naked, you have a specific relationship. It’s different than with people you meet with your clothes on, nakedness creates a bond.

I would like to meet new naturist friends though, to share experiences and to just spend time naked with.

What’s the best tip you have for beginning naturists?
Just take off your clothes! All of you! Be naked and act normal about it.

You don’t become a naturist to have sex, being a naturist means respect for others, respect for yourself and respect for your environment.

Anything else you’d like to share with our audience?
Live and let live.
Enjoy being naked.

Thank you so much for your participation Luke!
