10 Amazing Nude Beach Bars around the World

We’ve always loved a good nude beach. Sand between our toes and the sun on our skin. Well, at least for an hour or so. Because you see, we’re not really baking-all-day-on-the-beach kind of people. At some point, we want a cold drink, maybe a bite to eat, and definitely a proper chair. But we don’t really want to get dressed for all that. This is where nude beach bars come in, they’re the best of both worlds.

We’ve come across quite a few of these spots during our travels, and each one has its own charm. Some are proper restaurants where nobody cares that you’re naked, others are bohemian-style lounge bars where you can sip a cocktail in the nude, and one bar on this list even requires you to strip down before you order, or you won’t get served.

Cala Escondida, Ibiza

When people think of Ibiza, they usually picture packed clubs, neon lights, and DJs who don’t start playing until 3 AM. That used to be our vibe a decade or so ago, but now we feel that we’re more attracted to the quieter corners of the island. One of our favourite nude-friendly spots is Cala Escondida.

It’s a small cove, backed by a high cliff, and you’ll know you’re in the right place when you see a huge yellow rock with “nude beach” painted on it. The beach itself is mixed, so you’ll find both bathing suits and birthday suits, but there are often enough nude people around to feel comfortable.

The real highlight is the Cala Escondida chiringuito. The cocktails are actually as good as the reputation says, and when the sun starts to set over the horizon, it’s one of those places where time just seems to stop. If you don’t feel like sitting at the bar, you can also just grab your drink and take it back to the sand.

Vera Playa, Spain

We can’t talk about nude beach bars without mentioning Vera Playa. This town is basically one giant clothes-free zone, with almost three kilometres of nude beach and streets where it’s perfectly fine to wander around without clothes. That level of normalisation also extends to the bars.

Along the beach, you’ll find places like Natsun, Chiringuito Naturista, and El Pirata serving food and drinks right on the sand. And right downtown, Oh La La Café is one of those spots where nobody even blinks an eye if you show up naked. Probably because they’re all naked as well.

Vera Playa is one of the few places where “having a beer in the nude” doesn’t need any extra explanation. It’s just what people do here.

10 Amazing Nude Beach Bars

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

Maspalomas is famous for its dunes. Honestly, walking across them feels more like crossing the Sahara than heading to a beach in the Canary Islands. We’re not just saying this to make it sound idyllic, though. On a hot day, you might want to pack a beer for the road.

But once you reach the sea, you’ll find one of the largest nude areas in Spain. It stretches all the way from Meloneras to Playa del Inglés, and scattered along the way are several small beach bars.

What we liked here is the convenience. You can go for a long nude beach walk, and whenever you get thirsty, there’s always a bar not too far away. They’re not fancy, expect wooden shacks, plastic chairs, and ice-cold beers. All you really need after wandering in the sun.

Benalnatura, Andalusia

Benalnatura is a tiny cove near the town Benalmádena, and it’s one of the few places where you can always expect a 100% nude ratio. No awkward mix with bathing suits here. In fact, there’s a sign at the beach bar that makes it clear: if you’re not naked, you won’t get served.

We have to admit, although we believe in the strength of the clothing-optional concept and in giving people the time to adjust before going nude, we also liked the straightforwardness of this bar. It avoids confusion and makes the place feel like a proper naked hangout. The cove itself is small, so it fills up quickly, but the bar right on the sand makes it a really social spot.

10 Amazing Nude Beach Bars

Plage de Bonnieu, France

France’s Camargue region isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you think about nude beach bars. The coastline here is wild, with lagoons, flamingos, and not a whole lot of facilities. But at Plage de Bonnieu, a local naturist club manages a rocky stretch of beach and runs a little bar serving drinks and snacks.

What’s nice here is that it’s not just about the bar. The whole place feels like a community. You can have your drink at the terrace, take it down to the rocks, or join a game of pétanque with the locals. It’s not the most picturesque bar in the world, but it’s friendly and genuine, and that’s why we thought that it deserves a spot in this list.

Linguizzetta, Corsica

Corsica is one of those islands that has “untamed beauty” written all over it, and Linguizzetta adds the words “nude beach”. It is one of France’s longest nude beaches. Naturist resorts like Bagheera and Riva Bella sit right on the sand. We didn’t really want to include beach bars of naturist resorts in this list, because often this means that you’ll need to stay at the place to enjoy your drink at the bar. But this doesn’t count for the bar of Bagheera, or any of the others on this beach.

We spent quite some time at Bagheera’s bar. It’s not as fancy as the resort’s restaurant, just a wooden building with a relaxed terrace overlooking the sea, but that’s exactly why it works so well. It’s the kind of place where you can have a morning coffee, then wander off for a swim and some tanning, and come back for a glass of wine at lunchtime.

10 Amazing Nude Beach Bars

Kandarola, Croatia

On the island of Rab, Kandarola takes things up a notch. This is more than just a nude beach with a bar, it’s an entire day resort. You’ve got sunbeds, umbrellas, and even a hot tub overlooking the sea. And of course, there’s a bar, so you don’t need to put your clothes back on to get a drink.

It’s definitely more organised than the typical wild nude beach, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Everything you need for a full day at the beach is right there. Including cold Croatian beers, which are almost as good as Belgian ones, but not quite yet. Croatia does have awesome wine, though!

Westduinpark, The Netherlands

We know what you’re thinking: The Netherlands isn’t exactly famous for its sunny beach bars. Or for its sunny weather in general. But yet, Westduinpark near The Hague deserves a spot on this list because it’s home to @thebeach, one of the very few bars in the country that allow you to sip your drink au naturel. The bar here isn’t entirely nude-friendly, but they have a naked terrace. Which is the only thing you need on a summer day.

It’s a simple concept, but surprisingly rare. And when the weather does cooperate, it’s a nice change from the usual Dutch “terrace culture” where everyone is wrapped up in jackets.

10 Amazing Nude Beach Bars

Orient Beach, Saint Martin

Orient Beach is one of those legendary names in clothes-free vacations. Once home to the Caribbean’s most famous nude resort, the area was hit hard by Hurricane Irma back in 2017, and today, the resort is still in ruins. But the nude section of the beach survived, and so has the bar. Or at least, it has been recovered.

Today, at Orient Beach, you’ll find that classic mix of white sand, turquoise water, and a bar and grill where clothing is completely optional. The vibe is laid-back and as Caribbean as it gets. You can spend hours here just enjoying the atmosphere while sipping very reasonably priced drinks and eating some of the most delicious seafood you’ve ever had.

Zipolite, Mexico

We’ll finish in Zipolite, Mexico’s only official nude beach. If you’re a regular reader of our blog, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that Zipolite is listed here. We’ve been there several times and we just LOVE the relaxed, bohemian vibe. And also the fact that you can find plenty of bars and restaurants along the coast.

Some allow nudity, some don’t, so it’s always good to ask or look for signs. Playa del Amor has one of the most scenic bars, tucked away in a smaller cove, while the Budamar Hotel offers a more comfortable setup right on the beach.

Zipolite is also one of those places where the line between beach life and bar life is blurry. You can go for a swim, dry off in the sun, and then stroll into the nearest place for a cold cerveza.

This concludes our little tour of some of our favourite nude beach bars around the world. How many of these places have you already visited? And which nude beach bar is your all-time favourite? Drop it in the comments, your tips might just be the reason we add new spots to our itinerary.
