Finally!
After a lot of time working silently behind the scenes, the day has come when we can present to you our new baby.
Clothes-Free Safari is real, it’s ready, and we are super proud of what we put together: Naturism, spectacular landscapes, incredible wildlife, and food and wine all mixed together in a two-week journey through South Africa. And this time, we’re not doing it alone. We’re taking you with us.
Well, this was the short version of the story. All the practicalities can be found on the Clothes Free Safari website, and if you want to know where this suddenly comes from, do read further.

When South Africa got under our skin
Someone once told us that you can’t visit South Africa without taking a piece of it home with you. We’re usually a bit sceptical when people say things like that because it sounds like they just read it on a fridge magnet. But after spending three months in the country back in 2022, we had to admit the voices had a point. Whether it was because of the landscapes, the people, the sense that you’re somehow standing at the beginning of everything… We don’t know. Maybe it was just voodoo.
What we do know is that we never stopped thinking about going back. We kept an eye out for a new naturist resort opening, a reason to return, an excuse really. But we also weren’t sure if just going back would be enough. We wanted to share this experience with others. South Africa felt too good to keep to ourselves.

No, we are not opening a naturist resort!
Over the years, we regularly get the question when we are finally going to open our own naturist resort. Sometimes jokingly, many times in a much more serious way. And honestly, it’s not a crazy idea. After nearly nine years of continuous travelling, we’ve stayed at enough naturist places to know what works and what doesn’t. We’ve seen the good, the not-so-good, and the truly wonderful. And we’ve met so many people, owners and visitors, who showed us all the different angles.
But here’s the thing: the reason we’ve been travelling for nine years and still love it so much, is because moving around is what brings out the best of us. We are nomads. A resort would mean planting roots, and as flattering as the idea sounds in theory, that’s not really part of our plan.
So rather than settle down, we found a different way to put everything we’ve learned to use. Well, we can’t take all the credit, because we didn’t find it alone.

Enter Lofty and Amanda
When we were in South Africa back in 2022, we met Lofty and Amanda. A naturist couple living in SunEden resort, who specialise in organising naturist travel experiences around the country. They had helped us plan our own South Africa adventure and while we were in SunEden, we spent a lot of time together. We kept in touch afterwards, the way you do with people you click with.
A few months ago, we were chatting online when someone threw the idea on the table: What if we organise something together?
To be fair, we had toyed with the possibility of organising a naturist group vacation someday, somewhere, but every time we started doing a bit of research, the logistics felt overwhelming, and the idea quietly disappeared … This time was different. We wouldn’t be figuring it out from scratch, and we wouldn’t be doing it alone. Lofty and Amanda know South Africa inside out. They know the roads, the reserves, the hidden gems, and exactly how to make naturism work in places that aren’t naturist by default.
What followed were weeks of calls, emails, and voice notes until we landed on what we genuinely believe is the perfect itinerary.

Clothes-Free Safari
Clothes-Free Safari is exactly what it sounds like. A combination of our own two passions, naturism and travelling, that we will share with others. We will be spending time at SunEden, South Africa’s flagship naturist resort, and we will be visiting national parks, watching wildlife do its thing, eating the great food, drink some of the best wines on the planet. And we will spend quite some time without clothes along the way. To give you a sneak peek: Accommodations that normally aren’t naturist, will be turned clothes-free exclusively for our group.
If South Africa is already on your bucket list, now is the time to check it off. And if it wasn’t on your radar yet, we hope it is after reading this.
Head over to the Clothes Free Safari website for all the details. We launched first on Patreon two weeks ago, and already have several bookings. Since we’re capping at 12 duos across two departures, the spots are really limited. If you’re interested, you may not want to wait too long. Just saying 🙂
We can’t wait to take you to South Africa!

Have you ever thought about the extent to which naturism also means protecting nature in the sense of an eco-friendly lifestyle? You say you’re nomads, but that also implies a lot of air travel and massive environmental pollution.
Absolutely, and as surprising as it sounds to many people, we do care a lot about living eco-friendly. But it all comes down to balance, everyone is polluting in one way or another except the very few people left who live 100% off-grid and never consume anything they didn’t catch or made. We do fly a few times per year, but probably less than most people think. If there are alternative ways of travelling (like trains) we will usually choose those. On the other hand, we haven’t had our own vehicles for many years, only a few years ago we bought a van that we only use part-time. We don’t have a house, we don’t have things, we don’t have closets full of clothes and shoes (everything we own fits in a suitcase). We don’t use heating because we’re usually in warm places… We’re not trying to justify air travel here, we definitely know how polluting planes are. But they are part of our lives and sometimes we can’t avoid them. But we do consider it, just like many other elements in our lives.
This looks very interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing this.
