The Naturist Talks: Annette and Chris from Bulgaria

As you may have read in the very first post of this blog, one of the main reasons why we started this project is to show the world that naturists are not some strange dark commune but that actually everyone could be one… Or could enjoy being one if they took the first step.

Our main example of “everyone” is of course ourselves, we write posts about naturism in general but also about our own experiences. But some of you might be thinking “Yes sure, those two are probably just the strange kids in the block…” (nah, we know you’re not thinking that about us, but we’re trying to write an introduction here). So we decided to let other naturists have a word as well.

So please sit back and get inspired!

Meanwhile we already published several interviews with people from all over the world. You can find them in the The Naturist Talks section.
Today we’re having Annette and her husband Chris from Bulgaria

nudist from Canada

Hello Annette and Chris, tell us something about yourself
Hiya…We now live in Bulgaria on our own little farm, where I have lots and lots of animals. Plus where we can, and usually are, naked 24/7.

How and at what age did you become a naturist?
I got into nudism when I was about 30 I think…and love it.

Is naturism allowed in your country and what’s the public opinion?
Yes, it is allowed here in Bulgaria, and in fact they have quite a lot of nudist beaches. And they have everything, life guards, sun bed and sun umbrella rentals, cafes and bars, you name it.

nudist from CanadaWhat do you think is the best and worst thing about naturism?
I just love being naked, but if I have a pet hate, its this…a lot of naturists are complete fuddie dudies, and don’t enjoy it as they should.

Do you find it easy to make naturist friends?
Yes I do, no problem at all, although a lot of our close friends aren’t, more fool them I say.

What’s the best tip you have for beginning naturists?
Don’t be shy, if people don’t like the way you look…that’s simple…don’t look.

Thank you so much for your participation Annette and Chris!

  1. You state naturisme is allogeen in Bulgaria, but is it also allowed at the country side?
Can we make naturist walks in the mountains, for example?

    Thanks Tony

  2. I visit Hisarya almost every September, a cosy town, perfect for relaxing. Here we have grassy hills under the Sredna Gora woddy hilltops. You meet hardly a single person on a whole day. Here you can safely walk as God intended a sunny day wiewing the trakian plain and in a clear day also Plovdiv. Bring drink water, but you may find “cattle water springs” useful for pouring over yourself. Back home you can relax with mineral baths, some drink and food at some of the excellent eateries. Hisarya is real gem, perfect base for exploring surroundings on larger distances than but foot.

    • Thanks Rolf,
Just noticed your comment from two years ago. But as we make every year a naturist walking vacation, your input is still valuable.
We are two couples searching every year a new destination where we can make daily excursions on foot for about 15 to 20 kilometers, preferably completely naked, even if passing nearby couple of houses, if any at all.

    • Hi Steve,
I’m like coming on here a year later, but My husband and I are looking at investing in a property that is completely isolated, but backs onto a dam, and hills. And just leaving folk to run their own thing (nakedAirBnB)…our home is actually 20kms from this property, so is this a big thing that people, naturists, want? I’m not that way inclined, but notice there is a call for it.
We are in the process of setting up a retreat at our home, but we have kids, and nudies would not go well here lol
