Bagheera Naturist Resort in Corsica, France: Revisited

Corsica has a way of feeling like two worlds at once. There are mountains that look close enough to touch, forests that smell like warm resin, and a coastline that shifts between rugged and postcard-perfect. At Bagheera Naturist Resort, that contrast quickly became our daily routine, start the morning in the shade of eucalyptus trees, stepping out into open light, and within minutes be on sand that stretches so far it never feels like a “nude beach in front of a resort”.

When we turn our backs to the sea, we see the mountains in the distance. From here, it’s hard to imagine that there’s a full resort just behind that first line of bushes and trees. We wouldn’t believe it if it weren’t for the fact that we woke up there just minutes ago.

How to get to Bagheera

Bagheera is located on the eastern side of Corsica, roughly halfway between Bastia and Porto-Vecchio. If you’re coming by car or camper, you’ll be taking the ferry from mainland Europe to Bastia, from where it’s a straightforward drive along the island’s coastal main road for about an hour. You could also opt to arrive in Île-Rousse, but keep in mind that this will increase your driving time to about 2-3 hours.

Flying in is easy because Corsica has several airports. The best one to get to is Bastia-Poretta, which is just 40 minutes away. Corsica also has a very scenic train line and a network of buses, but we wouldn’t rely on it to get to the resort. Having your own transportation on the island is highly recommended, and there are plenty of car rental options at the airport. It is also possible to get a taxi from and to the airport.

Accommodations at Bagheera

Bagheera is essentially two stays in one place: a campground and a holiday village side by side, both hidden in a thick eucalyptus forest. That setting does a lot. Even when the resort is busy, it rarely feels crowded because the trees add shade, privacy, and that calm “tucked away” feeling you don’t expect from a Mediterranean beachfront campground.

On the camping side, the choice is mostly about vibe. The seafront pitches are the dream spots, right by the sand, with sunrises coming straight out of the water. They’re also the most social area, simply because everyone wants to be there. If you prefer quieter mornings and more of a “forest camping” mood, the pitches further back are shadier and feel far more secluded, even though you’re still just a short walk from the beach.

On the holiday village side, it’s all about comfort and privacy. You’ll find everything from cosy wooden cabins and glamping tents to larger villas, including three-bedroom options. Thanks to the forest cover, the rentals don’t feel packed together, so you get that more high-end, unplugged feel while still staying fully clothes-free.

Facilities at Bagheera

Bagheera isn’t a place where you tick off facilities. Instead, it pulls you into an easy outdoor rhythm. The main event is the beach: wide, golden, and stretching for kilometres, so you never feel stuck in one busy spot and long nude walks are basically built into the day.

Something we only learned this year is that the beach right in front of the campground is generally seen as nude-only, but behind the restaurant, there’s a stretch that’s more considered clothing-optional. Handy if you’re not one hundred per cent comfortable yet going naked, or if you’re travelling with someone who wants a slower start.

For food and drinks, you have two options. The beach bar is right on the beach, with cocktails, meals, and takeaway, so you can grab lunch and enjoy it on your camping pitch. For a proper sit-down, the main restaurant on the cliff edge gives amazing sea views all around and has a menu leaning into Corsican flavours, especially seafood and traditional meats. The terrace out front is perfect for pre-dinner drinks. We particularly recommend the restaurant for dinner because of the amazing sunsets and regular evening entertainment. But it’s also open for breakfast and lunch.

The sea is the main attraction, and if you want more than swimming, there’s kayaking, paddleboarding, and morning aqua gym. Inside the resort, you’ll also find an outdoor gym, yoga, a sauna, and massages. There are a few playgrounds for the younger family members, and the hairy ones are welcome too (meaning pets, not grandpa, although he can come too). Several WiFi points let you check in online without turning the whole trip into screen time.

Around Bagheera

For many, Bagheera is a destination in itself, but it can also be a strong base for exploring Corsica, especially the eastern part of the island and the more natural, central interior.

When you’re ready to swap beach time for a bit of exploring, nearby Aléria is the obvious cultural stop for archaeology and a quick slice of history. If you prefer scenery and a long lunch, the coastal lagoons are a great bet. Étang de Diana and Étang d’Urbino are the huge lakes, known for their views and oyster farms.

For that “real Corsica” feel, head inland. The landscapes get dramatic fast, with mountains, valleys, and villages that make you forget the beach ever existed. Corte and the Restonica Valley are a go-to combo for big scenery and clear mountain water. Don’t forget to make a stop at one of the wineries or cheese makers.

For a proper must-see day trip, put Bonifacio on your list. It’s famous for its clifftop old town and those jaw-dropping sea views, and it’s worth the drive even if it means getting dressed for a day.

Guests at Bagheera

Bagheera attracts a large variety of guests because of the variety of options it provides. If you like tent camping in the woods, you can find your thing here, but also if your idea of roughing it is sleeping in a queen-size bed instead of a king-size and even if you won’t go anywhere if there’s not a sea view beach villa.

The long nude beach draws the committed beach-walkers and swimmers, families fit in easily thanks to the playgrounds and straightforward layout, and couples appreciate the romantic dinners at the restaurant.

Overall, Bagheera feels designed for people who want their days to be simple: sea, shade, great food and drinks, and time. Lots of time.

When to visit Bagheera

Bagheera’s beach season has a big advantage: the water stays warm throughout the season, which makes the resort feel swim-friendly beyond the peak summer weeks.

We visited in the second half of September and still found mornings warm enough to sit outside with coffee, especially on those seafront pitches where sunrise happens right in front of us. Summer months add extra energy at the restaurant, with evening entertainment appearing regularly. That means the choice of season can shape the feel of the stay: more lively in summer, softer and calmer as the season stretches on.

Quickly summarised, if you like a busy atmosphere and want a hot beach vacation, come in the summer. If you prefer things a bit slower and are planning to explore some other parts of Corsica as well, spring and autumn are a better choice.

Your questions answered

How is the sea?
Nick regularly went for a swim. Especially if you follow our YouTube channel, you know what this means.

Is the whole resort clothes-free?
The resort is clothes-free, except for the reception, the restaurant, and the shop. Also the beach is a nude beach.

Is there animation in the low season?
Bagheera is not the type of resort where you have to choose between 5 different activities every hour of the day. During the summer, there are some things going on like yoga, aqua gym and evening entertainment, and these often also happen during low season but not as frequently.

Can you get day passes?
Yes, day passes are available and give you access to the beach and the facilities. The price in 2025 was 15 euros per person.

Is breakfast included?
When you’re renting, you can choose between different packages, and some include breakfast.

We went to Bagheera 3 years ago. Is there anything new since then?
There’s a fairly new playground, there are also new and updated rentals, and one of the shower blocks on the campground was completely refreshed.
