Lavinia Naturist Resort in Alicante, Spain: Revisited

This was the third time already that we visited Lavinia Naturist Resort. The first time was when they had just opened their doors, and the owners were still finding their way in the hospitality business. The second time was during COVID, a weird time for everyone and especially uncertain for those depending on the simple fact that people can travel. But we remember how they kept their heads high and instead of burying themselves in worries, they were making lots of plans for how to improve once this epidemic would be behind us.

Now was the time when we would see Lavinia Naturist Resort run at full speed. And we liked what we saw. They have found their place in the ever-growing market of clothes-free vacations by offering a unique concept of half-board service with the goal of providing the ultimate relaxing vacation. A side-effect, of which we’re sure that it was supposed to be part of the concept, is that the dinner table brings people together. “You arrive as strangers but leave as friends” is a cliché slogan that has been overused in the hotel world. But at Lavinia, we’ve actually seen this happen.

How to get to Lavinia Naturist Resort

Lavinia is perched in the hills near Alicante on Spain’s Costa Blanca. If you’re flying in, the Alicante-Elche Airport is your best bet. It’s well-connected to most European cities, with plenty of budget airlines making the trip. From the airport, the drive to Lavinia doesn’t take more than 20 minutes, and the easiest way to cover this is by renting a car. There are plenty of options available. If you prefer not to drive, you can hop into a taxi or ask the resort owners for other alternatives.

Alicante is also part of Spain’s high-speed train network and has fast connections to other major cities like Madrid (2.5 hours), Barcelona (5 hours), or Seville (6 hours). From the train station, it’s best to take a taxi or Uber, but you can also rent a car or travel by public buses.

Accommodations at Lavinia Naturist Resort

Lavinia offers five different villas spread around the property, each with its own personality but all sharing the same attention to detail. We stayed in the Sensación Penthouse, the latest addition to the resort. Just like the other villas, there is a kitchen and living room, a bedroom (some villas have more than one), a bathroom, a terrace, and the TV-WiFi-Airco combo.

What we especially loved about the penthouse is the open-plan kitchen and living room that feels very spacious with large windows that bring in tons of light . And the rooftop terrace, which covers the whole building and gives a 360 panoramic view of Alicante city, the coast, and the mountains in the back.

Another element we appreciated a lot, which applies to every villa, is that bath robes, beach towels, sarongs, and soaps all are provided. This doesn’t only enable guests to travel light (given that clothes aren’t much of a necessity either) but these are also the things that we typically forget to pack.

Facilities at Lavinia Naturist Resort

The heart of Lavinia is its two saltwater pools. The larger one at the top of the resort is a typical hangout spot. It’s where everyone naturally gravitates during the day, lounging on sunbeds, chatting, and cooling off with regular dips. It’s like the “the social pool”, because it’s basically the resort’s living room. The second pool near the entrance is quieter and perfect for when you want some alone time or a peaceful siesta.

Throughout the day, you can enjoy a drink from the honesty bar, play a game of petanque with the other guests, or just relax with a good book in the shade of a tree. The choice is completely yours. If it would get cooler in the evenings or the early mornings, there’s a sauna and a jacuzzi.

The jacuzzi can be turned into a candlelit romantic spot on request. This is where Lavinia really shines, not by the candlelight, but because they’re super flexible about accommodating your requests. Meals can be adapted to your preferences, you get help organising day trips, and if you like to have your fridge filled with cold beers by the time you arrive, that too can be arranged.

Talking about food, we’ve mentioned before that Lavinia works with half-board service. What this means is that for breakfast, you get an extensive list of items to choose from, and in the morning, this is nicely delivered at your doorstep. For dinner, every day (except on Sundays), a three-course dinner is prepared to be enjoyed at the communal table. Food is known to be a great conversation starter and these evenings tend to last until long after dessert.

Around Lavinia Naturist Resort

The resort sits right next to a natural reserve, which means that you can head out for naked walks directly from the property. Just remember to bring sunscreen, the breeze feels comforting, but the Spanish sun isn’t playing around.

But if you do manage to pick up the courrage to put on your clothes, there’s plenty to explore in the near surroundings of the resort. Alicante’s historic center is just a short drive away, with its narrow streets, cozy bars, and the impressive Santa Bárbara castle that offers even more spectacular views.

For beach lovers, the area south of Alicante has some excellent nude beaches. Los Tossales is the most popular but can get crowded during peak season. We preferred the quieter beaches like El Carabassi and El Pinet, which offer more space and a more relaxed vibe. On the way to these beaches, you’ll pass the stunning salt flats with their otherworldly colours, keep an eye out for flamingos, which are often spotted there.

More nude beaches can be found in the near surroundings of Alicante, as well as other day trip opportunities like Elche, Villajoyosa or Benidorm.

Guests at Lavinia Naturist Resort

Lavinia tends to attract people who value relaxation and connection, and the typical Mediterranean way of living. It’s perfect for those who want to truly disconnect from the outside world while still having meaningful interactions with others. The intimate, judgment-free setting is also perfect for first-timers and we’ve heard plenty stories about guests who have taken their first steps into clothes-free vacations at Lavinia.

The half-board setup creates natural opportunities to get to know your fellow guests without forcing interactions. By the second night, we found ourselves extending dinner conversations late into the evening, sharing stories and laughs with people who’d been strangers just 24 hours earlier. If you’re the type who appreciates comfort, good food, authentic conversations, and the luxury of taking things slow, you’ll fit right in here.

When to visit Lavinia Naturist Resort

The Costa Blanca enjoys a mild climate year-round, making Lavinia a viable option no matter when you visit. Summer (June to September) brings consistent warmth with temperatures between 25-35°C, perfect for those who love serious heat. Spring and fall offer pleasant temperatures (20-25°C), these periods are also considered the high season.

Winter is surprisingly comfortable here too, with daytime temperatures often reaching near 20°C, which is warm enough to be nude during the day, as long as the sun is out. Just be aware that the famous Alicante winds can appear unexpectedly throughout the year, so be prepared for the occasional breezy day.
